Job Description:

As a Squad Leader within the Equity Portfolio Management Product Area, you will blend your interest in investment management with our technology expertise to deliver an outstanding user experience for our Global PM team. As the product owner you are the end-to-end gatekeeper of the squad mission, strategy, and execution associated with delivering on strategic priorities. You will influence the broader strategic decisions and roadmaps, set and refine the squad mission, and bring together a team of chapter members to execute on user prioritized product improvements.

Constant refinement of the “what” and “when” work will be performed through ongoing planning and prioritization of a product backlog. By empowering squad members, you will create a culture of working iteratively, innovating through testing and experimentation, and learning from failure while celebrating success. By staying connected to industry trends, you can bring the latest thinking to our squads to enhance our product solutions.

This position will be located in Galway as the primary home base with a combination of both in office and remote working.

The Team

You work in partnership with Product Area Leads across our domain, other squad leads, scrum masters, and chapter leaders aligned to your squad(s). By demonstrating and promoting Fidelity and agile leadership behaviors, you will sustain and evolve our innovative agile environment.

The Expertise You Have

  • Creative, collaborative, results-oriented problem solver with experience in software development lifecycle.
  • Proven experience working with Agile teams and a detailed understanding of SCRUM principles (business analysis, story writing, acceptance testing, end user certification).
  • Knowledge of the investment process is preferred.
  • Agile experience required.
  • Jira and JiraAlign experience is beneficial but not required.
  • SCRUM certifications are advantageous.

The Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 7-10+ years working experience with a majority in investment management
  • A data-focused approach to understanding customer needs, translating strategic objectives into action, and prioritizing to improve the value delivered.
  • An ability to grasp sophisticated product features and break them into clear and concise stories with well-defined business value and acceptance criteria and optimally communicate these.
  • A strong focus on execution and an ability to identify, communicate and remove impediments to progress.
  • A capability to lead, influence, and empower colleagues (both on-shore and off-shore) without formal authority, and a track record of building high-performing teams.
  • Encouraging continuously improvement and an agile way of working, adopting servant leadership behaviors and approach.
  • Ability to establish and maintain unquestioning relationships as you work collaboratively across Fidelity to deliver business outcomes and seek out the expertise of colleagues to advise on your approach.
  • An intellectual curiosity that champions a culture of continuous learning, mentoring and coaching

  • Defining, refining, and communicating the squads' mission and roadmap to empower the team and build partner support and alignment
  • Anticipating, discovering through ongoing interaction with, and prioritizing client / partner needs to serve as their voice and guide execution of the team
  • Bringing new solutions to our users on a regular cadence, retiring obsolete solutions and maintaining our outstanding trading platform.
  • Making informed trade-off decisions to strike the right balance between quality, cost, and timelines.
  • Defining squad objectives and measuring outcomes against these, while delivering agreed upon business, technology, and people results.
  • Collaborating and coordinating with chapter leaders and scrum masters to build squad capacity and capability and enabling squad member growth, development and learning.
  • Finding opportunities to bring new technologies/solutions to deliver innovative solutions to meet our business partner objectives.
