Job Title: Principal - Data Scientist
The Purpose of this Role
The Fidelity Center for Applied Technology (FCAT) is looking for a versatile individual with Dual Expertise in Data Science and Full Stack Software Engineering. The ideal candidate will have expertise in backend and frontend technologies, a solid foundation in data science, and experience with deep learning, Generative AI models, and machine learning frameworks. This role focuses on building end-to-end innovative, data-driven products and solutions that push the boundaries of finance.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop full-stack applications using backend (Python FastAPI, Node.js, databases) and frontend (React, Next.js) technologies.
- Design, prototype, and deploy AI/ML solutions, leveraging deep learning and Generative AI models.
- Apply data science fundamentals and machine learning frameworks to build data-driven features.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create scalable products, with a focus on user experience and business impact.
- Stay up-to-date and tinker with emerging technologies, adapting quickly to new tools and trends.
The Skills and Expertise we are looking for
kills & Expertise:
- Strong understanding of data science principles and processes, statistics, time series, NLP, traditional ML algos, deep learning algorithms.
- Hands on experience in entire data science project life cycle – EDA, data cleaning, Feature Engineering, Model Building and Validation, Operationalization and Scalability of scientific techniques, establishing decision strategies and designing experiments.
- Experience using deep learning (eg. pytorch, huggingface) and traditional machine learning (eg. scikit learn) frameworks.
- Experience with Generative AI models -LLMs (e.g., GPT, Lllama, DeepSeek, Stable Diffusion), RAGs, and cloud platforms (eg. AWS, GCP).
- Knowledge of prompt engineering techniques.
- Proficiency in programming languages (Python, SQL, HTML, CSS, Javascript) and foundations of computer science.
- Proficiency in backend development (FastAPI, Node.js, databases) and frontend technologies (React, Next.js).
- Product mindset with a focus on building user-centric solutions and delivering business value.
- Extremely strong logical thinking and ability to debug by going deep into the problem.
- Aptitude & curiosity to learn new cutting edge technologies and connect the dots to bring out new product ideas.
How Your Work Impacts the Organization
Preferred:
- Familiarity with fintech.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- 10+ years of combined industry experience of Data Science and Software Engineering.
