Job Description:

At Fidelity Labs, we don’t accept the status quo. We’re debating, experimenting, researching, teaching, and collaborating on new ideas to help people live better financial lives. We have dedicated cross-functional incubator teams that operate like startups but have the backing and resources of Fidelity to ensure that we are able to focus on the things that matter. Using a combination of good old-fashioned ingenuity, and innovation methodologies such as Design Thinking and Lean Startup, our incubators take a customer-centric approach to problem solving, with a focus on rapid experimentation, and the permission to fail. See what we’re up to at FidelityLabs.com

Our software engineers play a key role on our incubator teams, making the ideas we research and refine through user testing come to life by building prototypes and iteratively evolving them into scalable products. Our incubator teams are empowered to move quickly and operate independently, so our engineers are involved in every step of the process from design through deployment. We believe strongly that it is our responsibility to continuously improve both as engineers and as a team every iteration so we write automated tests as part of our development workflow, practice pair programming, perform peer code reviews, and share knowledge in weekly tech talks. We use modern technologies and are always open to improving our tools and our process. The role is based in Durham, NC.

The Expertise We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree Computer Science or other related discipline
  • Rapidly develop enterprise software based on requirement documents, prototypes, or verbal requirements
  • Learn and adopt new concepts & technologies quickly and implement them effectively in projects
  • Work across peer groups to resolve and understand complex technical/design issues.
  • Talent for writing clean, testable, readable, and easily maintainable code
  • Experience with middleware Java stack, Spring, messaging technologies and web containers
  • Experience with client side tech stack: HTML, CSS/SCSS, JavaScript, and Angular
  • Experience working in an Agile software delivery environment, with exposure to continuous integration and continuous delivery tools.
  • Understanding of fundamental design principles for building a scalable application
