Job Description:

Director, Product Manager

As a Director, Product Manager within High Income & Alternatives Technology, you will own and shape the technology platforms that support Fidelity’s rapidly growing High Income & Alternatives (HIA) business, with a particular focus on the Credit Alternatives domain. In this role, you will partner closely with Portfolio Managers, Analysts, Traders, and Investment Services teams to define and deliver technology solutions that enable the management of complex portfolio structures, including leveraged loans and other alternative investments.

You will be accountable for defining what problems to solve and when, driving clarity and alignment through thoughtful planning, prioritization, and backlog management. Working directly with a cross‑functional technology team, you will foster an iterative, outcome‑driven delivery model—encouraging experimentation, learning from failure, and celebrating success. You will continuously deepen your own product, investment, and technology expertise to bring contemporary product thinking and best practices to the organization.

The Expertise We’re Looking For

  • Define feature and capability strategy aligned to broader product and business goals, including target outcomes, key performance indicators (KPIs), and high‑level strategic roadmap themes.

  • Own and maintain the feature/capability roadmap, balancing priorities and tradeoffs to ensure transparency, alignment, and delivery of highest‑value outcomes.

  • Ensure alignment across product horizons and technology roadmaps, coordinating dependencies and sequencing work appropriately.

  • Develop end‑to‑end use cases and experiences that meet the needs of both investment professionals and operational associates.

  • Conduct customer, business, and regulatory analysis to translate needs into clear product requirements and acceptance criteria.

  • Partner with stakeholders and subject matter experts to refine use cases and ensure solutions address complex business and regulatory nuances.

  • Manage intake and prioritization of new work requests, ensuring appropriate data is captured to support informed decision‑making.

  • Collaborate closely with engineering leadership to translate product intent into a well‑defined solution backlog.

  • Actively engage with the delivery team through backlog refinement, sprint planning, demos, and reviews—providing clarity, feedback, and direction.

  • Review, validate, and accept delivered product changes to ensure they meet defined outcomes and quality standards.

The Skills You Bring

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Economics, or related field.

  • Experience working with Front Office Investment Teams – Portfolio Managers, Traders, or Quantitative Analysts, a plus for the role

  • 10+ years’ experience working in a technology role or related field.

  • Experience in establishing and documenting product roadmaps, backlogs and team priorities.

  • You have a strong focus on execution and identify, communicate, and remove impediments to progress for your teams.

  • You are capable of leading, influencing, and motivating colleagues without formal authority, and have a track record of building high-performing teams.

  • You establish and maintain unquestioning relationships as you work collaboratively across Fidelity to deliver business outcomes and seek out the expertise of colleagues to advise on your approach.

  • You are intellectually curious and model a culture of continuous learning, mentoring, and coaching.

  • You have or are committed to developing a balance of technology and non-technology skills to fully appreciate the broad needs of our customers.

The Team

You work in partnership with the VP, Product Management, other Product Managers, and Technical Leaders aligned to your team. By demonstrating and promoting Fidelity and leadership behaviors, you sustain and evolve our culture. Your work will directly support the growing business in High Income & Alternatives (HIA) by enhancing an existing set of processes and developing new capabilities to support the growing demand in this market.

We are currently working in a hybrid model with some flexibility for remote working. However, Fidelity is gradually transitioning towards a full-time return to the office. We believe this will help strengthen our culture and enhance both the associate and customer experience. At present, this transition is expected from 2027 onwards, with no fixed timeline in place.
