Job Description:
Internal Contractor Conversion.
The Role
Are you passionate about technology, cloud data platforms, and automation at scale? Do you want to build innovative cloud data solutions that redefine enterprise-grade data platforms?
We are seeking cloud database automation engineers who are driven, hands-on technologists with a strong desire to innovate. In this role, you will help design and deliver automation for PostgreSQL and Distributed SQL databases at scale, enabling reliable, secure, and high-performing deployments across public cloud environments.
As a Cloud Data Automation Engineer within the PostgreSQL and Distributed Database Platform Team, you are responsible for building modules for deployment and migration of PostgreSQL and Distributed SQL Databases such as CockroachDB and YugabyteDB across AWS and Azure environments.
This is a hands-on, technical engineering role that requires deep expertise in cloud automation tools, modern deployment methodologies, and database engineering best practices—including provisioning, security, encryption, administration, and data protection.
You will partner closely with cloud database architects and developers to build and enhance database-as-a-service automation using a unified deployment pipeline across multiple cloud providers. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams—including architecture, development, security, operations, and Business Unit Cloud Centers of Excellence—to ensure applications leverage cloud database platforms efficiently, securely, and in compliance with enterprise operational and security standards.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
Strong hands-on experience as a database automation engineer, with deep technical expertise.
Proven experience with tools and technologies such as OpenTofu, AWS CloudFormation, YAML, GitHub, Artifactory, and GenAI tools like GitHub Copilot.
Proficiency in scripting and programming languages including Python, PowerShell, Shell scripting, Ansible, Terraform, Go, Ruby, and Perl.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD and pipeline automation tools, including Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
Demonstrated ability and willingness to mentor and coach engineers on best practices and engineering excellence.
Solid experience with Cloud DevOps practices, infrastructure-as-code (IaC) concepts, and source code management tools like GitHub.
Strong knowledge of relational and distributed SQL database administration, operations, and best practices.
Experience working in Agile software development environments.
Proven track record as a collaborative team player with the ability to effectively communicate technical and business concepts to peers, stakeholders, and leadership.
Strong commitment to code quality, standards, and continuous improvement for both individual and team deliverables.
Passion for learning and adopting new cloud technologies and modern engineering practices.
Ability to work effectively within high-impact, goal-oriented teams.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently research, validate information, and deliver well-founded technical recommendations.
Experience working in globally distributed teams across multiple time zones.
The Team
In this role, you will drive the advancement of cloud database automation for platforms including PostgreSQL and distributed SQL databases such as CockroachDB and YugabyteDB. Key responsibilities include modernizing existing automation frameworks, designing and implementing new end-to-end deployment capabilities, and leading the migration of Business Unit partners to these next-generation data platform services across AWS and Azure.
You will also play a critical leadership role by mentoring and coaching cloud database engineers within the inner-source community, promoting best practices and engineering excellence. Additionally, you will develop clear, comprehensive, and customer-facing documentation to support adoption and effective use of these cloud database automation solutions.
