Job Title – Engineering Manager, Reliability Engineering
Within Fidelity Brokerage's Reliability Engineering organization, the associate leads strategic engineering capabilities. They are passionate about developing platforms for Test Data Management and Test Environment Stability. Additional responsibilities align with the vision and roadmap of Reliability Engineering. The role combines deep technical leadership, engineering excellence, platform engineering, reliability engineering, and people leadership responsibilities. The associate will manage a team of engineers based in India while partnering closely with U.S.-based engineering leaders to define strategy, modernize platforms, improve operational reliability, and accelerate engineering productivity across Brokerage Technology.
The Purpose of This Role
- Reliability Engineering is transforming the way Fidelity Brokerage Technology enables software quality, engineering productivity, and operational resilience. This role is responsible for building and scaling engineering capabilities that improve the reliability, predictability, and effectiveness of software delivery across Brokerage Technology.
- As a highly technical Engineering Manager, you will lead teams responsible for Test Data Management and Test Environment Stability while helping shape the future direction of Reliability Engineering. You will drive platform modernization, reliability engineering practices, observability, automation, AI-enabled solutions, and engineering excellence initiatives that support critically important brokerage platforms.
- The role requires a strong technology mindset, balancing technical leadership, architecture influence, innovation, and talent development to deliver measurable business and engineering.
The Value You Deliver
- Lead and develop high-performing engineering teams focused on Reliability Engineering capabilities including Test Data Management and Test Environment Stability.
- Partner with U.S. leaders to define and implement the strategic roadmap for Reliability Engineering across Brokerage Technology.
- Drive the evolution of Fidelity Brokerage Test Data Enablement (TED) platform into a scalable self-service engineering platform that improves developer productivity and testing efficiency.
- Improve reliability, observability, availability, and operational effectiveness of critical non-production testing environments.
- Drive engineering excellence through adoption of modern software engineering practices, automation, cloud-native architectures, DevOps, and quality engineering standards.
- Champion platform engineering principles and reusable solutions that improve scalability, productivity, and operational efficiency across development teams.
- Drive innovation through adoption of AI, automation, observability, and emerging technologies that improve software delivery effectiveness and testing outcomes.
- Mentor engineers and technical leaders while building strong succession pipelines and fostering a culture of continuous learning and engineering excellence.

Technical Leadership
- Strong software engineering background with hands-on experience building and supporting enterprise-scale platforms and distributed systems.
- Ability to provide technical leadership across architecture, design reviews, engineering standards, platform modernization, and technology strategy.
- Proven experience influencing engineering decisions and driving technical excellence across multiple teams.
Software & Platform Engineering
- Strong hands-on experience in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Microservices, and distributed architectures.
- Experience building cloud-native applications and platforms in AWS.
- Experience with Kubernetes, containerization, infrastructure automation, and modern DevOps practices.
- Experience designing and delivering self-service engineering platforms and internal developer capabilities.
Reliability Engineering & Operational Excellence
- Solid understanding of observability, monitoring, alerting, incident management, root cause analysis, and operational reporting.
- Understanding of reliability engineering concepts including availability, resiliency, service level objectives (SLOs), service level indicators (SLIs), and operational excellence.
- Experience driving automation and operational improvements within engineering organizations.
Testing & Quality Engineering
- Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and modern testing practices.
- Experience with Unit Testing, Functional Testing, Integration Testing, End-to-End Testing, Test Automation Frameworks, Test Data Management, and Test Environment Management.
- Understanding of quality engineering principles and automation-first delivery practices.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Proven experience leading, coaching, and mentoring engineering teams.
- Ability to influence and build strong relationships across Product, Engineering, Architecture, SRE, and Business organizations.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and organizational leadership skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in a highly collaborative global environment.

The Expertise We’re Looking For
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- 15+ years of software engineering and technology leadership experience.
- 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams and developing technical talent.
- Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, APIs, Microservices, and distributed systems.
- Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, Kubernetes, cloud-native engineering, and software delivery automation.
- Strong understanding of testing strategies, quality engineering practices, test automation frameworks, and software lifecycle management.
- Strong experience delivering enterprise-scale applications and platforms in cloud environments (AWS preferred).
- Experience with platform engineering, reliability engineering, SRE, DevOps, or engineering productivity initiatives.
- Experience building and supporting highly available, scalable, and mission-critical applications.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, architectural, and technical decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence across organizational boundaries and drive strategic engineering outcomes.
- Experience working with globally distributed teams and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with internal developer platforms or self-service engineering solutions.
- Experience with observability platforms and operational intelligence solutions.
- Knowledge of AI, Generative AI, Copilot, or engineering productivity use cases.
- Exposure to data engineering or large-scale data management platforms.
- Financial services or regulated industry experience.
- Experience supporting large-scale customer-facing digital platforms
