Job Description:
The Role
Stock Plan Services, an equity compensation services division of Fidelity Investments, is seeking a Director of Software Engineering/ Technical Lead to help lead our Global Recordkeeping Modernization effort.
We are looking for an individual who deeply cares about end-to-end architecture, resiliency, and performance of customer transactions that are critical to SPS competitiveness and reputation. This person will work closely with other Tech Leads, developers and architects across the next Generation Platform developing/improving end-to-end understanding and visibility of SPS critical services and workflows.
The Team
Stock Plan Services (SPS) is actively building out a next generation platform to support our equity compensation business both in the US and globally. This is a highly visible, large-scale program that will position SPS for the growth and scale we need as our business aggressively takes on new markets and products. This role is integral in defining the strategic direction, designing for this platform & helping our clients get off the Legacy Mainframe Platform.
As a senior technical lead, you will contribute to the technical Leadership & Development efforts within the SPS team.
This includes:

Develops and maintains critical multi-tier applications.

Influences strategic backlog and prioritization decisions related to software development.

Sets and applies standards and ensures the work performed is aligned with established technology road maps.

Removes impediments to deliver value.

Improves stability and resiliency of software applications and batch processes by improving software engineering standards and quality.

Designs, develops, and modifies complex and major software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design.

Develops and directs software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.

Work with Product Area Leads and Architects to define the non – functional requirements for scale.

Define end to end Performance Test strategy & solve for Test Data needs to support scale.

Work with the AI COE and Mainframe Tech Leads to explore Machine learning opportunities to speed up current state analysis and future state development opportunities.
The Expertise You Have

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related discipline
-
10+ plus years in distributed application design and development.
-
Proven track record as a Technical Lead in crafting solutions.
-
Background with multiple enterprise technologies.
-
Experience with Microservice patterns.
-
Experience working with CI/CD processes and pipelines.
-
Shown an understanding and consistent record for cloud-based solutions, continuous integration/deployment and serverless architecture.
-
Deep understanding of reliability engineering principles and practices including Service Level Objectives and Service Level Indicators.
-
The ability to align SRE initiatives with business objectives, develop long term strategies and adapt to changing priorities and technologies.

Strong oral & written communication and presentation skills.

High intellectual curiosity and analytical orientation, high interest in problem solving using both fact-based and hypothesis-driven approaches.

Innovative, forward-thinker who quickly understands the context, and effectively challenges the status quo and drive tough decisions.

Experience working on modern transactional and data processing applications

Excellent understanding of Relational Databases, SQL, and ORM technologies (JPA2, Hibernate)

Your experience building/testing secure and high-volume complex applications for financial and retail systems using Java, Oracle, Web Services, Angular, XML/JSON and SQL

Experience designing and developing Information Technology (IT) architecture — frameworks, software/applications, and technology — using Java, Object-Oriented design and analysis, design patterns, and Web Services; and facilitating change reviews, release management, and infrastructure change schedules.

Architect and provide guidance on building end-to-end systems optimized for speed and scale.

Familiarity with security concepts, such as SSL/TLS, OAuth, encryption
-
Familiarity with cloud concepts, such as AWS, GCP, and/or MS Azure.

Your solid understanding of networking/distributed computing environment concepts

Your experience with Agile development methodologies such as SCRUM, SAFe, Extreme Programming

Your experience with TDD, BDD, utilizing CI/CD and DevOps.

Your experience working with development teams in onshore-offshore model.
