Chapter Leader, Ventura Chapter – DC Recordkeeping

The Role and Team

Fidelity’s Workplace Investing (WI) Digital Shared Services team is looking for a highly motivated Chapter Leader to be part of its dynamic, globally distributed team of IT professionals responsible for the development and maintenance of Fidelity’s WI Digital Shared Services platform. As the Chapter Leader, you blend technology leadership with a passion for coaching, mentoring and developing associates. You are deeply committed to improving the value delivered to our clients. In an agile structure you will collaborate with other leaders to establish the standards for your chapter, influence the strategic decisions and build solutions across domains. You will directly manage a team of chapter members, who primarily work within autonomous squads, but report directly to you. You are dedicated to helping them grow and develop in their knowledge area and ensure alignment on the “how” of the work they perform. You are committed to developing your own expertise and knowledge to bring the latest thinking to your role to empower others with that knowledge. The role requires great collaboration with members of various business and IT groups throughout the life cycle of the project. Our team focuses on building scalable and innovative solutions that help millions of Fidelity’s customers plan & invest for retirement, manage, and transact from their DC retirement accounts. 

This position is based out of Westlake, Texas.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • 10-15 years of overall IT experience
  • 5+ years of technology and people leadership experience
  • Experience leading, coaching, mentoring, and developing people and teams
  • Experience identifying and acquiring talent needs; and resource planning and talent allocation across large organizations
  • Financial services experience, preferred
  • Agile leadership experience
  • Champions standard methodologies for various aspects of engineering excellence like CICD, design reviews, code reviews, unit testing, test automation across technology stack
  • Expertise in working closely with business and technology partners to establish both strategic direction and tactical execution plans, and turning these plans into action
  • Proven attention to detail with logical reasoning, analytical and critical-thinking and creative problem-solving skills
  • General knowledge of API and Cloud technologies
  • Excellent verbal and written skills with demonstrable ability to concisely share and gain consensus for new insights, influence decisions and make sound, compelling arguments
  • Experience in effectively leading and managing in an environment undergoing change, and with an evolving business strategy
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills to facilitate collaboration across technology and business partners
  • A proficiency in diverse management practices and bringing out the best in people
  • Your ability to solve sophisticated, multi-dimensional business problems
  • An ability to inspire change in a creative and collaborative manner with business partners and technical partners, including our offshore development teams
  • Your willingness and ability to work in a hands-on manner and get into the details
  • A strong and constant commitment to technical learning
  • An ability to staff the team through multiple resourcing strategies, and handle the performance management activities for your team

  • Proactively partnering with chapter area, domain, center of excellence, and squad leaders to:
    • influence strategic backlog and prioritization decisions related to your area of expertise
    • measure performance through established objectives and critical metrics and deliver agreed upon business, technology, and people results
    • align chapter members across squads to ensure the best utilization of talent while also building learning opportunities and learning day content to develop skills
    • set and apply standards and ensure the work performed is aligned with established road maps
    • remove impediments to delivering value
