Job Description:

Director, Product Owner – Accounting Reporting & Analytics Technology

The Role

As the Accounting Reporting & Analytics Squad Leader, you will own the strategic nature and provide product development expertise with a passion for delivering results. As the product owner you are the end-to-end gatekeeper of the squad mission, strategy, and tactical execution associated with delivering on strategic priorities. In an agile structure, you will partner with other Fidelity leaders to influence the broader strategic decisions, roadmaps and resource requirements, set and refine the mission, and bring together a team of chapter members to complete specific product features.

You will ensure alignment on the “what” and “when” work is to be performed through ongoing planning and prioritization of a product backlog and ensuring alignment with Product Area strategy. You will enable squad members to work iteratively, innovate through testing and experimentation and learn from failures while celebrating success. You are committed to developing your own expertise and knowledge to ensure you bring the latest thinking to your role.

  • Anticipating and discovering through ongoing interaction with, and prioritizing client / partner needs to serve as their voice and guide execution of the team
  • Provides peer leadership and strategic direction to squad and across squads/product area/domain; identifies capabilities required for a squad within and across squads
  • Designing, developing, and maintaining dynamic products and solutions
  • Makes squad level decisions and sets priorities that can impact multiple Domains/Product Areas; makes decisions that materially impact results with limited guidance and oversight and is expected to shift focus and/or direction of the Product Area and/or Squad(s) to meet changing conditions
  • Anticipated future trends, issues, and business drivers; must lead a large number of dependencies that align with many collaborators while keeping partners at all levels advised on progress
  • Expert in scrum events and motivating all levels to participate and engage; large span of influence to get maximum value of work from individuals with whom there is no reporting relationship
  • Measuring performance against established objectives and KPI’s that deliver on agreed upon business, technology, and people results
  • Provide thought leadership, collaboration and coordination with Chapter Leaders and Scrum Masters to build squad capacity and capability while enabling squad member growth, development, and learning
  • Making informed trade-off decisions to strike the right balance between quality, cost, and timelines
  • Lead projects with new/emerging technology and/or products in the early strategy and design stage; requires legal and regulatory knowledge along with experience with contracts
  • Taking a data-focused approach to understanding customer needs, translate strategic objectives into action, and prioritize to improve value delivered
  • Grasp sophisticated product features and break them into clear and concise stories with well-defined business value and acceptance criteria and efficiently communicate these
  • Work collaboratively with the other FMT Squad Leaders, Architecture, Chapter Leaders and business partners

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • B.S. Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent experience in Technology
  • 10+ years of shown work experience leading project teams
  • Experience designing, developing and maintaining dynamic products and solutions
  • Strong vendor management/engagement experience building collaborative relationships with vendors and leading internal risk mitigation activities including supplier profile questionnaires, performance management scorecards and resiliency plan documentation.
  • Take a data-focused approach to understanding customer needs, translate strategic objectives into action, and prioritize to improve value delivered
  • Knowledge of design thinking principles and applying those to develop an understanding of customer needs and their strategic objectives, and improve value delivered to customers.
  • Grasp sophisticated product features and break them into clear and concise stories with well-defined business value and acceptance criteria and efficiently communicate these
  • Product management background with the ability to quickly understand product features and effectively communicate their purpose to varying levels of expertise.
  • Focus on execution and identify, communicate and remove impediments to progress
  • Capable of leading, influencing, and motivating colleagues without formal authority, and have a track record of building strong teams
  • Continuously improve and encourage an agile way of working
  • Establish and maintain unquestioning relationships as you work collectively across Fidelity to deliver business outcomes and seek out the expertise of colleagues to advise on your approach
  • Intellectually curious and model a culture of continuous learning, mentoring, and coaching
  • Committed to developing a balance of technology and non-technology skills to fully appreciate the broad needs of our customers
  • Fluency in regulatory compliance and data privacy
  • Experience creating a robust data and analytics strategy leading to successful product launches
  • Experience managing and delivering business value through SaaS and cloud based solutions
  • API/AWS/Snowflake/AI/ML experience preferred
  • Financial services, Agile, and Jira/Jira Align experience preferred

You work in partnership with the Financial Management Technology Product Area leader, other Squad Leaders, Scrum Masters, and Chapter Leaders aligned to your squad to complete initiatives aligned to our product area mission to create innovate technology solutions for business processes and capabilities that enable a world class finance organization. We do this through a focus on highly integrated cloud technologies, data strategies and information delivery tools that improve the associate experience, reduce technical debt, minimization of manual processes and utilization of best in class SaaS solutions for commoditized capabilities.
