Position Description:
Supports cloud-based, database, and middle-tier services and applications to drive software production stability, reliability, and resiliency using Python, NodeJS, or Java. Coordinates systems using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools — Terraform, Cloudformation, and Chef. Develops and supports event-driven technical architecture using event streaming platforms– Docker, Kubernetes, AWS Lambda, and AWS ECS. Improves Cloud application operation and delivery in Cloud environments (AWS) using Lambda, DynomoDB, API gateway, SQS, S3, CloudWatch, and IAM roles/polices. Confers with systems analysts and other software engineers/developers to design systems and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces.
Primary Responsibilities:

Builds, develops, deploys, and maintains applications using Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.

Builds and deploys REST Application Program Interfaces (APIs) using Python, NodeJS, or Java programming language.

Develops and oversees software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.
-
Develops and maintains automation tools, scripts and serverless computing with AWS Lambda and related services to streamline deployment and maintenance tasks.

Monitors key performance indicators for system reliability.

Improves observability of applications, platforms, and service interdependences.
-
Develops scripts and applications to automate repeatable business processes.

Maintains scalability and resiliency of complex environment.

Maintains systems using infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, Cloudformation, and Chef).

Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several initiatives.

Implements advanced observability practices and techniques at scale.

Improves data engineering solutions in Cloud environments.

Defining, implementing, and evaluating Service Level Objectives (SLO) and Service Level Indicators (SLI), and associated consequences.

Performs daily tasks, work assignments, resolution of any compliance issue, and tacking of compliance procedures and policies.

Updates and enhances infrastructure to transition legacy processes off of end-of-life products.

Experience managing and interpreting large datasets using query languages and visualization tools.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer and Information Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (or closely related occupation) developing and maintaining cloud-based applications to drive software production stability, reliability, and resiliency using Jenkins CI/CD, Docker, Program languages (Python, NodeJS, or Java), Splunk, or Terraform.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer and Information Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (or closely related occupation) developing and maintaining cloud-based applications to drive software production stability, reliability, and resiliency using Jenkins CI/CD, Docker, Program languages (Python, NodeJS, or Java), Splunk, or Terraform.

Candidate must also possess:

Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) automating repetitive tasks and providing solutions to program needs by developing scripts and applications using Shell, Python, and Java; and improving cloud application operation and delivery in cloud environments including AWS using Lambda, DynomoDB, API gateway, SQS, S3, CloudWatch, and IAM roles and polices.

DE designing, building, and optimizing automated pipelines with automated testing and automated security controls using Jenkins, Serverless framework, Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or SonarQube including Unit test cases and integration test cases; building scripts for configuration management, log analysis and other operation functions (patching and upgrading servers) using Ansible or Chef; and writing complex SQL/PL-SQL queries in DB2, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Snowflake, and NOSQL datastores — Cassandra or Mongo DB — to analyze data across the organization hosted on database platforms using Toad or DB Visualizer.

DE enhancing availability, stability, and observability of Windows and Linux based applications and Cloud platforms using Datadog, Tableau Dashboards, or Catchpoint Synthetic user monitoring; and performing code migrations and configurations, release management, UAT, and application and server support using ServiceNow, Dynatrace, or SiteScope.

DE performing infrastructure provisioning using scripted solutions and internal/external (AWS) Cloud solutions; performing release management according to DevOps model using uDeploy, Jenkins, Docker, Artifactory, Ansible, and AWS functionalities; and creating and implementing automation in the form of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or AWS Cloud Formation for Cloud Platform Solutions.
