Job Description:

The Role

The Fidelity Institutional Technology, Database Center of Excellence (COE), requires a highly competent and highly motivated Senior Database Administrator with strong technical skills to support challenging mission critical database platforms. This position would provide an excellent opportunity to work on leading database technologies like Oracle, Postgres, NoSQL, Cockroach, Snowflake etc. It is a great place to experience & learn end to end DBA service capabilities!

This role requires a service-oriented mentality, high sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned. Provides enormous opportunity to learn cutting edge technologies like machine learning!

 The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • 8+ years of experience in Database technologies with very proven understanding of end-to-end database tech-stack including Exadata and provide technical leadership for strategic projects.
  • 3+ years of Cloud experience

The Skills You Bring

  • 8+ experience in providing Database design, solutioning and providing database engineering support to microservices/Data as a service API development team using SQL, PL/SQL, Java, Python and NodeJS.
  • Experience with cloud databases platforms (AWS/Azure/Oracle OCI certification is helpful), on both Linux and Windows environments.
  • Experience in Container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience managing systems using infrastructure as code tools (IAM, ARM, Terraform, Chef)
  • Experience in modern observability tools (DataDog, Prometheus, Splunk, Grafana,etc)
  • Experience on CI/CD process, tools, testing frameworks and practices (GitHub, Jenkins, Udeploy and Jmeter)
  • 3+ experience in Oracle Database Administration / Performance Engineering / Resiliency Engineering and Replication Engineering across multiple platforms — Linux and Engineered systems.
  • 1+ experience in DB performance for other RDBMS/NOsql/Distributed database platforms (Postgres, Snowflake, Cassandra, MS SQL server, Cockroach etc) across multiple platforms — Linux and Engineered systems.
  • Designing and implementing highly resilient and performing Oracle database platforms, using distributed database technologies.
  • Domain specialist in Oracle internals, Optimizer, Statistics management, Partition management, Physical implementation & Workload management for highly scalable and resilient database platforms.
  • Strong Linux shell scripting experience preferred with a good understanding of Linux Performance
  • A good understanding of Oracle RAC related performance challenges
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, as well as maintaining a positive attitude are a must
  • Ability to develop and drive database performance standards and initiatives. AWS cloud experience desired.

The Value You Deliver

  • Designing and implementing highly resilient and performing cloud database platforms, using distributed database technologies.
  • Perform applications database administration (Oracle/Postgres/Cockroach) services including SQL code review, performance analysis, query tuning, database application design, physical data modeling, development support & Engineering.
  • Proactively monitor databases servers and respond to any alerts.
  • Provide database development support in all phases of SDLC and agile experience is preferred including logical and physical data model review, SQL performance, Data injection etc.
  • Participate in 24X7 on call rotation schedule for various production support, database maintenance, housekeeping and installs.
  • Interface with enterprise teams for Systems Administrators, Cyber Security and Capacity Planning groups as and when situation demands.
  • Ability to quickly diagnose the problem areas and come up with solutions and/or workarounds.
  • Should have strong time management skills with willingness and ability to handle multiple projects/initiatives at the same time.
  • Self-motivated with strong team, interpersonal and communication skills!
  • Establish database standards for operations, upgrades, migrations and onboarding new applications and/or clients.
  • Write clear, concise, well organized technical documentation to maintain standards and procedures.

The Fidelity Institutional Technology, Database Center of Excellence (COE), provides business facing database solutions, encompassing the application/business aspects of databases, including database design, solution design, database engineering, application-data-database integration, data replication, performance consulting, deployment, and support, using world-class methodologies & technologies. This team provides end to end DBA services for distributed database technologies like Oracle, Postgres, NoSQL, Snowflake, SQL server, Cockroach, Neo4j, MariaDB etc
