The Role

The Institutional Client Group (ICG) is the distribution arm of Fidelity’s Asset Management business with responsibility for managing the investment relationships with Fortune 500, large public sector, endowments/foundations and insurance clients.  We are looking for an experienced financial services professional who has experience in alternative credit. The ideal candidate has a growth mindset, investment acumen and the ability to collaborate across Product Development, Marketing, Sales, Consultant Relations, Asset Management, and Thought Leadership.

The Head of Credit Alternatives will have deep knowledge of the alternative fixed income investing space and a track record of success and established relationships with institutional investors and allocators including pension funds, endowments, foundations, and insurance companies.

This role will help drive the institutional distribution strategy for Fidelity’s credit alternatives. You will build relationships and collaborate with the portfolio management team, institutional distribution, marketing, and thought leadership teams to help execute the end-to-end sales process.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree required – MBA and/or CFA strongly desired
  • 12+ years of experience in credit alternatives
  • Experience working with institutional investors across defined benefit, endowment-foundations, corporate balance sheet, and insurance general accounts
  • Experience in the private markets including distressed debt and real estate
  • Ability to partner across portfolio management team, institutional distribution, marketing, and thought leadership
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • FINRA Series 7 and 63 required
  • Talent for effectively communicating complex information – both verbally and in writing
  • Desire to work effectively across a collaborative and inclusive culture
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to travel extensively for client meetings and events.

The Purpose and Value of Your Role

The primary goal of the SVP, Credit Alternatives role is to be the subject matter expert for all credit alternative product and help the experienced sales team drive AUM growth across Fidelity’s alternative investment capabilities.  Key responsibilities include:      

  • Identify distribution channels for each credit alternative product
  • Determine collateral requirements for each distribution channel
  • Work with marketing and thought leadership teams to develop collateral
  • Understand the competitive landscape in each distribution channel
  • Educate sales and relationship team on credit alternative products and competitive landscape
  • Work with the sales team to harvest and analyze data from proprietary and public information sources to generate best ideas and identify high conviction sales opportunities
  • Present updates of campaign efforts and key areas of focus for senior management and internal audiences
  • Proactively attend industry conferences and capital introduction events and organize road shows.
  • Collaborate with pertinent internal teams to enhance institutional reporting and due diligence
