With more than $700 billion in assets under management as of March 31, 2023, Fidelity’s Strategic Advisers, LLC (SAI) is a leading provider of asset allocation solutions for retail, institutional, and high net worth clients. The range of investment solutions include managed accounts, financial planning frameworks and custom solutions.

Strategic Advisers is a registered investment adviser and a Fidelity Investments Company. SAI serves as the investment manager to all Fidelity managed accounts offered by Fidelity’s Portfolio Advisory Services and through Fidelity’s Wealth Management Advisory Services. We construct and manage asset allocation portfolios for more than 2.5 million clients.

The Position

Portfolio Analyst, Private Equity

Private Equity Portfolio Analyst will report to the Group Leader of Fundamental Model Management and work closely with Fidelity’s private equity fund investment team as well as other business partners to support the operations and financial reporting of Fidelity’s Private Equity Multi-Strategy Funds. The role provides an exciting opportunity to join a growing team scaling a business within Fidelity’s broader organization.

The Purpose of Your Role and the Value You Deliver

Primary Responsibilities

Fund investment services

  • Provide underlying fund close and documentation support
  • Coordinate and track underlying fund capital calls and subscription line usage
  • Assist, coordinate and calculate capital calls and distributions
  • Identify process improvements to improve the operational workflow of the team

Portfolio and Investment Monitoring Support

  • Maintain underlying fund portfolio monitoring information
  • Maintain, evaluate and improve existing data gathering tools and spreadsheets
  • Use tools and business knowledge to continuously provide insightful information, reporting and analytics that evolve with changes in the business
  • Support ongoing and ad-hoc analyses

Fund analysis and oversight

  • Quarterly investment reconciliation and NAV reporting at Fidelity fund level and portfolio level
  • Assist in developing underlying fund portfolio analytics and reporting
  • Prepare and/or review performance data used in marketing materials
  • Support ad hoc requests from business partners

The Expertise We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of finance or operations experience with private equity
  • Experience with private equity performance reporting and benchmarking
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required; MBA or CFA optional
  • Experience in or working with professionals in investment management and supporting functions

  • Subject matter depth and operations process expertise
  • Ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail while handling large workloads and short timelines.
  • Ability to prioritize large workloads while managing to critical deadlines
  • Passion for financial markets and the investment management process
  • Ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Knowledge of basic statistics, strong spreadsheet skills and quantitative capabilities
  • Capable of performing advanced data analysis using SQL.  Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Spotfire or Tableau is a plus.
