The Role

Do you want to make a difference in our customers’ lives and be part of a highly collaborative, cross-functional team committed to providing the industries best retirement, Institutional Custody and Bank Trust Platforms to the intermediary market?

We are looking for a Product Area Leader supporting our Institutional Custody, Bank Trust, and Retirement Solutions. As the Product Area Leader, you blend deep working knowledge of the retirement and Institutional brokerage industry expertise with a dedication to delivering customer value. This position provides hands-on product leadership with planning, roadmap development, cross functional collaboration, product delivery, deployment, and performance tracking. You will define and evolve the product areas' vision, strategy and mission and ensure continued alignment and prioritization of work with other key initiatives. In an agile structure, you will partner with other Fidelity leaders to establish product area level strategic priorities based on an understanding of customer needs and enable execution of these priorities by the cross-functional squads aligned to your product area. You will support these squads as they improve value delivered through prioritization, creativity, innovation, collaboration, and decision making and encourage them to work iteratively, innovate through testing and experimentation and learn from failures while celebrating success. You are committed to developing your own knowledge and bring the latest thinking to your role to empower others with that knowledge.

  • Enabling an agile and frictionless organization by continuously demonstrating agile behaviors

  • Proactively partnering with Domain, Product Area, Chapter Area/CoE, Squad and other leaders to:

    • Understand the needs of customers and market dynamics.

    • Partners with supporting business units to provide best in class solutions in a digital forward ecosystem.

    • define, evolve, and communicate strategic priorities, the product area vision, and its mission, to execute the domain and broader business strategy and increase the value delivered to customers.

    • define & measure performance through objectives and KPI’s to define and deliver agreed upon business, financial, technology, and people results.

    • evaluate and resolve capacity needs aligned with strategic priorities, making trade-offs where necessary.

    • ensure squad optimization through ongoing prioritization and evolution of the squad missions.

    • inspect and evaluate progress and remove impediments to delivering value.

  • Supporting and encouraging squad leaders to build appropriate learning opportunities to develop skills.

  • Assessing industry and customer trends and sharing insights, knowledge, and developments across product areas and squads

  • Compelling enterprise-wide alignment through collaboration, knowledge sharing and breaking down silos to achieve the best results for Fidelity.

  • Working with Chapter Area and other Product Area Leaders to develop technology roadmaps, to drive consistency in use of platforms and APIs, to minimize redundancy and manage IT.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA a plus.

  • 7, 24, 63, 99 Required

  • 15+ years of Product Management experience with a track record of refining conceptual business needs into high-value solutions within an agile environment using a variety of discovery, contextualization, and value alignment methodologies (e.g., experience mapping, service alignment blueprints, jobs to be done, story mapping, etc.…)

  • Industry experience in the Retirement, Bank Trust and Custody and intermediary markets

  • Proven experience working with leadership teams to develop new offerings, drive improvements to existing programs and resolve impediments across different domains.

  • You have experience delivering strong results while working in cross-organizational, highly matrixed environments.

  • Experience leading multiple teams.

  • Experience engaging with senior internal and external customers and partners.

  • Financial services and brokerage experience

  • Jira and Jira Align experience preferred.

  • You are a committed leader who serves and an inspirational people leader, capable of setting strategic direction and encouraging others to deliver results and impact to achieve that strategy.

  • You have senior level experience defining strategic roadmaps and leading the development of solutions and offerings aligned with and in support of the strategic direction of the business.

  • You have a continuous improvement approach and encourage and enable an agile way of working.

  • You have effective communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills with which you influence and engage across Fidelity and at all levels of the organization.

  • You take a data-focused approach to decision making, in day-to-day leadership and strategic tradeoff analyses.

  • You have or are committed to building a balance of technology and non-technology skills to fully appreciate the broad needs of our customers.

  • Ability to ensure team composition aligns with business needs, including workforce planning (e.g., identify proficiency, expertise, and resource gaps, recruit, train, and/or hire) and financial planning.

The Product Area is part of the FundsNetwork and Institutional, Trust and Retirement Domain that is within Fidelity Institutional FundsNetwork and FI Product Organization. The team’s mission is to provide access to best-in-class retirement, trust and bank custody solutions to our institutional clients and their customers.
