As a Scrum Master/Scrum of Scrums, you blend deep scrum expertise with a passion for mentoring and coaching, and constant improvement. As part of a highly collaborative squad you will advise, mentor, coach and train on performance against agile values, practices and processes to accelerate squad value delivery. Along with the normal responsibilities of a SM, you will have responsibility for release management coordination and participate in scaling ceremonies and activities as you manage interdependencies across squads and product areas. You will support the squad by engaging with all team members and product area leadership to reinforce and embed an agile approach and principles into the day-to-day work. This role often requires coordinating the efforts of multiple systems teams to deliver a seamlessly integrated solution to our customers.

  • Accelerating overall squad performance, efficiency and value delivered by engaging within and across squads to find opportunities to improve agile maturity and metrics, and providing coaching, training and resources
  • Maintaining and updating squad performance metrics (e.g., burn-down charts) and artifacts to ensure accurate and clear feedback to the squad members and transparency to other partners
  • Managing, coordinating logistics for and participating in agile events (e.g., backlog prioritization, sprint planning, daily meetings, retrospectives and as appropriate, scaled events including scrum of scrum masters)
  • Partnering with Squad Leaders, Chapter Leaders, Product Area Leaders and other leaders to provide insight to assist with decisions that impact their own domain and potentially across domains
  • Supporting adoption, and consistent use of enabling tools (e.g., Jira, Jira Align, Mural, MS Teams, and other agile tools)
  • Organizing and presenting ideas and information logically and concisely to a variety of audiences, including both technical and non-technical individuals
  • Working closely with the squad leader to plan and execute on the highest priority work as per the product roadmap
  • Handling multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
  • Coaching and mentoring complex squads, regardless of size.
  • Participating in a community of practice and providing scrum knowledge to members of your product area and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement within the product area

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Strong understanding of and experience with standard and scaled scrum practices, processes, and artifacts
  • Advanced Jira experience and knowledge of agile practices (Kanban, Lean)
  • Bachelor’s degree/undergraduate degree/equivalent required
  • Sophisticated Certified Scrum Master (ACSM preferred)
  • Certified Scrum@Scale Practitioner preferred
  • You possess excellent communication and people-interaction skills and can rapidly build trust and positively influence others at all levels of the organization
  • You are a proven change agent capable of coaching agile practices to teams and individuals from across different functions, experiences, and geographies as they work through new and unfamiliar situations
  • You are an effective facilitator and can brainstorm with the team to generate solutions that address challenges and roadblocks to accelerating value delivery
  • Encouraging Agile behaviors, reinforcing practices, norms, events, and supporting the overall performance and efficiency
  • Effective execution of scrum events and scaled agile events and provides guidance on process, practices, and tools, with responsibility for communication for assigned squads and across domain/BUs
  • Coaching, mentoring, and onboarding other squads within and outside of their domain/BU

You will support one or more cross-functional WI Technology squads, engaging with all team members and the Squad Leader, product area leadership to reinforce and embed an agile approach and principles into the day-to-day work. Our mission in the WI Scrum Master Chapter is to coach, develop, and empower each other to lead development teams that embrace the Agile mindset while providing career guidance and mobility opportunities for Scrum Masters.
