Position Description:
Designs and develops software application components and RESTful Application Program Interfaces (APIs) using Java and Docker. Builds, tests, and releases software product features according to Agile methodologies. Uses Continuous Integration/ Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) technologies — Git and Jenkins — to design, develop, and manage software development and delivery pipelines. Uses Splunk and Data Dog for debugging technical issues. Uses Angular framework to develop Front End User Interface applications. Uses Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) and Oracle databases to store, manage, and access large volumes of data related to the software development lifecycle. Provides business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
- Designs applications or subsystems on major projects and for/in multiple platforms.
- Develops applications for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
- Supports and performs all phases of testing leading to implementation.
- Assists in the planning and conducting of user acceptance testing.
- Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications supporting several corporate initiatives.
- Responsible for post-installation testing of any problems.
- Establishes project plans for projects of moderate scope.
- Works on complex assignments and often multiple phases of a project.
- Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several initiatives.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) performing software development and designing Web-based transaction processing applications in a financial regulatory and reporting environment.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) performing software development and designing Web-based transaction processing applications in a financial regulatory and reporting environment.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
- Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) developing and consuming Java RESTful and SOAP Web services in an Agile environment, using Java Design Patterns, Spring MVC, Spring Boot frameworks and IDE tools (Spring Tool Suite and Eclipse); writing test cases to verify that the application is operating as expected using JUnit, Mockito in test-driven development; using Active MQ for managing queue-based transactions; running applications on web servers using Apache and Tomcat; and analyzing business requirements for developing Web based online applications, using Java/J2EE and REST.
- DE designing and developing ETL workflow for data integration process with complex data transformations to transfer data across various systems; developing data models for generating large plan reports using BI Publisher integrated with OBIEE Reporting Tool; using Oracle database for storing data; and writing stored procedures for manipulating and calculating data using MySQL and SQL server.
- DE migrating existing processes and applications from on-prem environments to Microsoft Azure platform using containerized solutions — Docker and Kubernetes; addressing cloud security constraints in financial services which has drastically improved performance of applications; and practicing version control and source code management and tracking changes in the code, enabling multiple developers to work together on non-linear development using GitHub, Git Bash, and Stash.
- DE developing REST Web services to support OAuth based authentication (per security standards) and integrating with UI clients using Angular framework and IDE tools (IntelliJ, Visual Studio code) for associates and clients to manage plans; performing GUI design, using HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and Maven; developing solutions for monitoring web applications by integrating with Splunk and Datadog; and deploying and automating Rest APIs using Jenkins, and UDeploy.
