The Role
We are seeking a seasoned and technically strong Director of Software Engineering to lead the development and evolution of Operations Workstation platform. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of a transformational modernization journey — reimagining and rebuilding a mission-critical operations workstation into a best-in-class, next-generation platform for our brokerage operations users.
You will play a defining role in shaping the future of how operations users interact with technology — replacing aging systems with a modern, high-performance, container-based operations workstation that leverages platform interoperability capabilities to integrate seamlessly across enterprise systems, tools, and financial data services. Beyond engineering delivery, you will own the delivery roadmap, drive technology strategy and lead a high-performing team through a complex, multi-phase modernization.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy, Roadmap and Planning
- Assist VP of Engineering in developing and implementing a multi-year technology strategy for Brokerage Operations workstation
- Closely partner with Product Manager and VP of Engineering to build a delivery roadmap balancing modernization, operationally driven initiatives, regulatory compliance, and operational stability.
- Translate strategic intent into actionable engineering plans with clear milestones, resource requirements, and success metrics
- Lead structured planning and prioritization processes — balancing new capability delivery, platform modernization, and operational stability.
- Partner with product management, UX, operations, and business stakeholders to align technology delivery with business goals
- Drive consistency across platform experience, ensuring that interop-connected applications and workstation components deliver a seamless, integrated user experience for operations users
- Establish design principles and platform standards that guide engineering decisions and ensure the workstation evolves as a coherent, best-in-class product
- Communicate technical strategy and delivery roadmaps clearly to both technical and non-technical executive audiences
Organizational Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of engineers
- Drive talent development, resource planning, and associate growth.
- Foster a culture of engineering excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Inspire and align the engineering team around a shared modernization vision, maintaining momentum and morale through a complex, multi-phase transformation
Delivery and Execution
- Own end-to-end engineering delivery — from backlog refinement and sprint planning through release management and production deployment
- Drive a high-performance delivery culture that balances velocity with quality, reliability, and security in a regulated financial environment
- Establish and monitor KPIs for delivery health, system performance, reliability, and modernization progress — using data to drive continuous improvement
- Remove organizational blockers and dependencies that impede engineering execution, escalating appropriately and decisively
- Drive incident management, root cause analysis, and operational stability improvements across the platform
- Own technology lifecycle management and technology product management — ensuring all applications and platform components are maintained to the latest standards, current versions, and best practices.
- Champion the integration of artificial intelligence and AI-assisted development tooling — including AI code generation, automated testing, intelligent code review, and predictive analytics — to meaningfully accelerate the software delivery cycle and increase engineering throughput
- Identify and embed AI-driven automation across the SDLC, from requirements analysis and design through development, QA, deployment, and monitoring — reducing manual toil and compressing time-to-production
