Join Fidelity Investments as an Engineering Leader in the Trades and Asset Servicing Technology team. Within the Fidelity Wealth organization, the Brokerage Recordkeeping Technology (BRT) organization is responsible for brokerage technology and experience.
We are looking for an engineering leader with strong software engineering fundamentals and technical depth who thrives delivering high-quality, scalable solutions, aligning technology strategy with business priorities, strengthening engineering practices, and developing top talent. You will ensure we deliver resilient, high-performing platforms while enabling innovation at scale. This leader must ensure engineering quality while balancing execution speed, maintaining and improving coding standards, automation, testing, observability, and operational excellence.
You will partner closely with product leaders and engineering leadership to align technical direction with long-term business and platform goals. The ideal candidate is someone who can translate large and complex problem spaces into executable and practical technical strategies, leading teams through delivery with ownership and accountability. This leader must collaborate closely with architecture and data teams engaging in active, healthy technical debates to ensure the right engineering and design decisions are made. You will shape strategy and architecture, not just implement it.
The ideal candidate has a relentless execution mindset and proven record of delivery and ownership of complex distributed systems from planning through implementation, deployment, and production stability. You must break down initiatives into manageable and parallel streams of execution while proactively identifying risks, dependencies, and blockers, driving resolution through collaboration and leadership.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
Required:
10 years of software engineering experience with significant experience leading engineering teams and large-scale technical initiatives.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Strong expertise in distributed systems, scalable platform engineering, and high-performance application design. Hands on experience with low latency, high throughput APIs and high-volume event-based/streaming transaction processing systems. Kafka preferred.
Deep understanding of software engineering fundamentals, system design, and modern engineering practices.
Strong proficiency in Cloud Platforms (AWS required), and object-oriented programming and modern engineering languages such as Java and Python.
Solid understanding of relational and NoSQL databases, including scalability, consistency models, caching, indexing, and performance optimization. Oracle, CockroachDB, and/or SingleStore preferred.
Familiarity with mainframe ecosystems and ability to navigate legacy systems, including understanding of COBOL-based applications and modernization patterns.
Strong understanding of CI/CD, automated testing, code coverage, observability, resiliency engineering, and operational excellence.
Series 99 license required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire
