Job Description:

Designs and develops robust software solutions, using Oracle PL/SQL, Snowflake, and Java. Implements Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to streamline code integration and delivery, using open-source tools and best practices. Collaborates with architects to build secure, scalable, and resilient Cloud-native data services on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Performs complex Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) operations, using data integration platforms (Informatica). Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in architecture design teams.
  • Defines and implements application-level architecture.
  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
  • Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
  • Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.
  • Mentors junior team members.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
  • Evaluates and advises on development methodologies, standards, and strategies to optimize project outcomes and align with organizational goals.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) performing end-to-end application development and support for investment finance data solutions, using Oracle, ETL workflows, Snowflake on AWS, Java Spring Boot microservices on EKS, and Cucumber BDD.

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) performing end-to-end application development and support for investment finance data solutions, using Oracle, ETL workflows, Snowflake on AWS, Java Spring Boot microservices on EKS, and Cucumber BDD.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing and developing Oracle database applications that processes Flat Files, using shell scripts and Informatica Workflows for ETL processing; working with database objects (complex stored procedures), SQL loader for loading large files, Golden Gate for data replication, and Toad and SQL Developer for data processing; and migrating data from relational databases (Oracle) into a Cloud-based SaaS data lake platform using Snowflake and AWS, while implementing unit test cases (using UtPLSQL) and scheduling batch jobs (using Control-M).
  • DE performing development within the software development lifecycle using Informatica Power Center 10.x, Oracle SQL Developer (21c), Unix Shell scripting, and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for Automatic Workload Repository (AWR) reports; moving data across databases using PL/SQL; database tuning applications for file transfers; and developing reports using Power BI.
  • DE developing and integrating features using Java, Spring Boot, AWS (EKS), and Oracle PL/SQL; registering application services in Stratum and Digitalxchange; implementing test plans, outlining scope and objectives, and smoke testing service URLs, using Insomnia; performing development using IntelliJ for IDE and Jfrog for Artifactory; and analyzing application logs and infrastructure, using Datadog.
  • DE conceptualizing technical solutions and documenting design artifacts, using Draw.io tool, Confluence, and MS Office tools (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint); maintaining ticket services using Servicenow, ITSM, and Jira; storing code, configuration, and infrastructure files, using SVN, Bitbucket, Sourcetree, GIT, and GitHub; building GitHub webhooks and Commithooks across Jenkins Core CI/CD deployment pipelines; executing performance test suites for quality control using Jmeter; and performing chaos testing to analyze results, meet expectations, and optimize application infrastructure, using Gremlin.
