Designs, develops, and maintains high-quality, secure, and scalable microservice components for software and systems, supporting securities lending and collateral management processes within financial institutions. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deliver new features while participating in code and design reviews. Designs and implements Angular User Interface (UI) architecture to support scalable, accessible front-end applications, enforce UI security best practices, and integrate UI with microservices via REST with robust error handling. Optimizes performance, maintains quality gates, promotes design system adoption with reusable components, and sets front-end standards while guiding developers. Implements and maintains Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and monitors unit and integration testing to ensure reliability. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.

Primary Responsibilities:

Participates in architecture design teams.

• Defines and implements application-level architecture.

• Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.

• Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.

• Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.

• Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.

• Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.

• Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.

• Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.

• Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.

• Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.

• Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.

• Advises senior management on technical strategy.

• Mentors junior team members.

• Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting

several divisional initiatives.

• Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Technology

Management, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing and building responsive web applications in a financial services environment.

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information

Technology Management, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing and building responsive web applications in a financial services environment.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) architecting, designing, and building feature-rich web applications with JavaScript frameworks (Angular.js, Angular, and Backbone.js) and front-end technologies (HTML, HTML5, CSS, and SCSS); modeling application state and establishing predictable data flows using TypeScript, and integrating RESTful Application Programming Interface (API) utilizing state management libraries (NgRx and Redux); developing semantic, accessible, and responsive UIs, implementing design systems, and ensuring cross-browser and cross-device compatibility; and applying UI and User Experience (UX) principles, optimizing performance, implementing automated tests, and maintaining Git-based version control, using modern build tools (ESBuild).

  • DE building applications and tools to support security finance trading needs, focusing on improving daily efficiency and streamlining high operational overhead; developing solutions for pre- and post-trade processing, order management, reconciliation, and real-time monitoring; and integrating with external vendor systems (Loanet and SmartLoan) to ensure accurate data balancing and seamless workflows across the securities finance lifecycle.

  • DE performing full stack development and implementing, testing, and debugging highly scalable and secure services using Java, J2EE, Microservices, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Spring MVC, and SQL within Agile environments; developing web-based applications using JavaServer Pages (JSP), Spring Security, and Core Java; implementing messaging with MQ and web services (SOAP and REST); and building UI components for fully paid lending programs while integrating with mainframe systems and external vendors (Loanet and SmartLoan).

  • DE applying DevOps principles across the development lifecycle by performing code scanning, automatingCI/Continuous Development (CD) pipelines with Jenkins, and administering source code repositories using GitHub; and identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, optimizing solutions for securities finance applications, and supporting production deployments on AWS Cloud.

Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues.
