Job Description:
The Role
This role will work with a range of teams at Fidelity including Fidelity Technology, Platform, Analytics, Product Management, Legal, and Compliance teams, among others. Your responsibilities will include:
- Define financial planning problems and translate them into testable research questions and quantitative methodologies
- Turn research into implementable solutions by developing prototypes, decision rules, calculation specifications, and functional requirements in partnership with product and technology teams.
- Develop, validate, and back-test quantitative models using simulation, financial modeling, and scenario analysis.
- Evaluate how planning and investment decisions interact, including the effects of account type, asset location, funding source, portfolio assumptions, product selection, and market uncertainty on customer outcomes. (guys let me know if this does not sound right, please make suggestions)
- Improve the transparency and explainability of financial recommendations so customers, representatives, and business partners can understand the assumptions, trade-offs, and drivers of an outcome.
- Explore responsible applications of generative AI and agentic workflows to accelerate research, scenario development, testing, documentation, and explanation of planning recommendations.
The Expertise and Skills you bring
Required
Holds a bachelor’s degree or graduate degree in Engineering, Finance, Mathematics, Econometrics, Computer Science, or equivalent quantitative and logic-oriented degree
Has 3 plus years of relevant financial services experience
Demonstrated experience:
- Be able to work on projects independently under guidance from experienced team members
- Developing quantitative models or optimization in python and Excel or optimization packages
Demonstrated experience or interest in Financial Planning
Preferred
CFA and / or a CFP are a plus; willingness to pursue either preferred
Experience in technology or technology background a plus
Experience in developing solutions, prototypes, or solutions leveraging generative AI.

The Team
The Financial Solutions team, part of Strategic Advisors, develops the research, quantitative methodologies, and decision frameworks that underpin the financial advice and guidance Fidelity provides to wealth, brokerage, and workplace customers through representatives and digital experiences.
The team works across traditional planning boundaries, bringing together financial planning, profiling, tax planning, investment planning, optimization, behavioral insights, and technology. We research complex customer problems, develop and test potential solutions, and partner across Fidelity to bring those solutions to market.
Our work includes developing methodologies for retirement planning which include tax-efficient withdrawals, Roth conversions, savings and distribution strategies, retirement-income funding, healthcare decision support tools, and other decisions that require customers to coordinate their financial plans with their investment portfolios.
Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.
Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
