Position Description:
Designs, develops, and deploys scalable, high-performance applications and services to support critical business capabilities. Participates in end-to-end feature development, from concept through deployment, within autonomous, cross-functional teams, leveraging modern programming languages and frameworks including Java, Node.js, and JavaScript (Angular or React). Builds RESTful APIs, implements cloud-based solutions using AWS or Azure, and develops resilient architectures using design patterns and frameworks (Hystrix and RxJava). Applies DevOps practices to create Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, automates testing with tools (JUnit, Selenium, and Cucumber), and ensures quality in an Agile development environment. Provides business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
- Designs applications or subsystems on major projects and for/in multiple platforms.
- Develops applications for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
- Supports and performs all phases of testing leading to implementation.
- Assists in the planning and conducting of user acceptance testing.
- Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications supporting several corporate initiatives.
- Responsible for post-installation testing of any problems.
- Establishes project plans for projects of moderate scope.
- Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several initiatives.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) performing application development and support functions within the banking or financial services industry.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) performing application development and support functions within the banking or financial services industry.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
- Demonstrated Expertise developing and maintaining software applications using Java and Spring Boot and implementing RESTful APIs to support communication between application components; transforming monolithic systems into microservices using the Strangler pattern, creating scalable and fault-tolerant architectures, and implementing secure inter-service communication.
- Demonstrated Expertise processing and managing application data using relational and NoSQL databases, and integrating backend systems to store, retrieve, and exchange information across applications; completing API governance, authentication, encryption, and secure communication standards as required in the financial sector.
- Demonstrated Expertise developing web-based user interfaces using Angular and TypeScript and connecting front-end components to backend services through REST APIs; and writing unit tests using Jasmine/Karma to ensure stability and reliability.
- Demonstrated Expertise deploying and running software applications on cloud platforms including AWS and Azure and configuring application environments to support secure and reliable system operation; implementing serverless and event-driven ecosystems using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, EC2, S3, SNS, SQS, CloudWatch, and IAM.
