How Fidelity helps you reach your career goals

One thing that makes Fidelity unique is our focus on helping you reach your career aspirations. When you first join Fidelity, you’ll connect with your leader to discuss your long-term career goals. Together, you’ll come up with a 12-month milestone to work toward that will help you stay on track. Then you’ll create a development plan  so you have a blueprint to help you succeed.

“I was upfront about where I wanted to be, and my leader laid out the expectation in terms of timeline and how to get to that point. The communication was fantastic,” says Joe, a financial advisor for Fidelity.

After that, you’ll meet with your leader regularly for support and to check on your progress. You’ll also work with the Wealth Management team to set up a practice plan so you’re aligned on how to help your clients according to their standards.

Your development plan will continue to evolve based on your progress and input, and feedback from your leaders and coaches. Over that time, we want to help you build the skills and confidence you need to create strong outcomes for your clients. Our focus isn’t on hitting product targets. Instead, we take the time to understand your career goals so we can help you create a path forward, just like we expect you to do with your clients.

Career vitality is an important part of Fidelity’s growth culture. For advisors, that growth often leads to one of three career paths:

  • Career advisors: As a career advisor, you could become a vice president, financial consultant, wealth planner, wealth management advisor, or executive planning consultant.
  • Coaching: Advisors interested in coaching and development may become regional planning consultants or regional coaching consultants or transition into a managed solutions or investment solutions consultant role.
  • Leadership: Some advisors choose to move into a leadership role because they aspire to lead entire teams or organizations.

We want to help your advising career thrive, which is why we start you with a one-of-a-kind training program that gives you the skills, support, and hands-on experience you need to confidently help clients.
