The Role

We are seeking a Foreign Exchange Trading Associate to join a team of traders, providing sole coverage during the overnight shift (12:00 a.m.- 8:00 a.m.). The successful candidate will be responsible for the execution and risk management of FX trading activity with Fidelity’s retail and institutional clients. This role involves trading FX spot, forward and swaps as well as advising institutional clients on hedging strategies and mitigating currency risk. The position also requires close coordination with the broader trading and operation teams to ensure continuity across shifts and key responsibilities include:

  • Proactively manage the FX desk’s currency exposure, with an emphasis on risk mitigation.
  • Act as the sole overnight resource responsible for pricing FX transactions and monitoring electronic executions for accuracy.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for the FX product across Fidelity’s business units.
  • Communicate pertinent market developments, trade activity, and outstanding orders to the broader trading team.
  • Resolve or escalate any operational or technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to the written FX market commentary distributed to internal stakeholders and external clients.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree, plus a minimum of three years of prior financial experience is required.
  • Ability to work the overnight hours of 12am-8am, including US holidays.
  • Prior experience in FX trading, sales or operations is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency with Bloomberg and electronic trading platforms is a plus.
  • A solid understanding of the financial markets and their interaction with the currency markets.
  • Effective communication skills and writing proficiency are a plus.
  • Familiarity with fundamental and technical analysis of the currency markets is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently in a high paced environment with close attention to detail.
As noted, this role is for coverage during the overnight shift (12:00 a.m.- 8:00 a.m.). Per Fidelity's hybrid working model, working these hours provides flexibility to work remotely.

Fidelity Forex is a seven-member trading team that acts as a principal market maker in foreign currency markets. Operating within Fidelity Capital Markets, the group trades with a diverse client base that includes individuals, hedge funds, registered investment advisors and Fidelity affiliated businesses and companies. Responsibilities are shared equally across the team, with client satisfaction as an unwavering focus. The base salary range for this position is $100,000-185,000 USD per year.

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
