The eight Fidelity internships

Choosing the right Fidelity internship focus area starts with identifying the role that best fits your skills, experience, and area of study. Let’s dig into each one:

Actuary

This internship focuses on using math and statistics to manage financial risk. Students studying actuarial science or quantitative finance who are analytical and enjoy problem-solving would be a good fit. Those interested in a career ranging from a pension actuarial focus to a broad client-strategy role should apply.

Audit, risk, and compliance

Data savvy students with strong critical thinking skills and an analytical mindset may be interested in this internship. They’ll focus on the regulatory and operational side of managing financial risk as part of the team that protects the interests of our customers, associates, and Fidelity’s brand.

Interns may also have the opportunity to be considered for full‑time development programs such as the LEAD Program, a two‑year cohort‑based experience designed to develop well‑rounded future leaders, and the Global Securities & Investigation (GSI) Rotational Program, a two‑year program focused on preparing students for future leadership roles within the securities and investigations team.

Client relations

This is for students interested in client‑facing roles. Interns will learn how Fidelity supports its clients and have the opportunity to gradually begin taking calls as their confidence grows. Client relations internships may lead to full‑time client‑facing roles, including the Investment Sales Development Program and customer service positions in customer relations, workplace planning, or financial customer support.

Corporate services support

Detail-oriented students who enjoy expressing their creativity, have an appetite for learning, and love collaborating may want to apply for an internship in our Corporate Services Support focus area. They could join corporate affairs, marketing, communications, meetings and events, or real estate, among others.

Finance

Data-minded, analytical students with strong Excel skills and an interest in financial modeling and accounting may want to apply for one of our internships in finance. And after completing their finance internship, they can potentially join the Finance Rotation Program, a two-year program providing a strong foundation in finance.

Human resources

The Human Resources internship is a good fit for students who are strong multitaskers, good communicators, and analytical problem solvers. Prospective interns can apply to various HR roles, including talent management, analytics, compensation, employee relations, or training.

The experience gained through the internship helps build the foundation for a career in HR, and interns may be considered for the Human Resource Rotational Program—a full‑time, two‑year leadership development program featuring four six‑month rotations across different HR disciplines.

Operations

Students who are process-oriented problem-solvers and highly organized may be a good fit for an internship in Operations. Operations works closely with clients and business partners to ensure the seamless delivery of products and services.

Interns may also have the opportunity to be considered for Fidelity YOU, an early‑career program for new college graduates. This 18‑month, hands‑on experience allows students to continue developing their skills across our global operations community.

Technology

Students who have a passion for technology and problem-solving in a full-stack, mobile, data, or systems engineering role should apply for this internship. The Leap Technology Program was created for recent college graduates to help them launch their tech careers.

In addition to our core focus areas, Fidelity also offers internships in Asset management. The hiring cycle for these internships differs from our core opportunities.  If you are interested in an internship in equity, fixed income, high income and alternatives or strategic advisors, learn more here.
