3. As a Fidelity intern, you will present to senior leadership
You don't get to present to senior leadership in every corporate internship, but you do at Fidelity during a capstone-type presentation. “You’re able to present to senior leadership. You gain teamwork, collaboration, and leadership skills while honing your communication skills and being receptive to feedback and coaching,” says Jenna.
4. Fidelity internships offer you a hybrid work environment
The Fidelity internship gives you the best of both worlds—the flexibility of remote work with the collaboration and energy of the office. Our hybrid environment gives you flexibility while helping you build meaningful relationships.
5. You get ample networking opportunities as a Fidelity intern
At Fidelity, connection is built into our culture at every level. Associates are friendly and eager to interact with one another. Fidelity interns have almost limitless chances to connect with our associates over the 10-week program.
You’ll also have access to a mentor whom you’ll meet with on a weekly or biweekly basis. Mentors are an incredible resource to help you navigate both Fidelity and your career.
“You have access to tens of thousands of amazing employees who are excited to share their knowledge and wealth of experience. People always tell me that they look forward to intern season and helping students,” says Mollie.
Our interns also attend social events in the office and on group outings. You can also join one of our many groups to help you connect with employees who have similar interests. Participating in these groups could help you develop leadership skills.
How to get the most from your Fidelity internship experience
Corporate internships give you a chance to test the waters of a role or industry without a huge commitment, but you still want to treat it like a full-time job. Here’s how to do it.
Be professional and proactive in your corporate internship
“Being eager and proactive is important. We want students who will take the first couple projects assigned to them and knock them out of the park, then ask for other ways to get involved,” says Mollie.
The work you do now could matter for your future job prospects at Fidelity. “Interns are evaluated at the end of their internship. Their managers will basically submit a recommendation if they should be considered for another opportunity,” says Mollie.
Learn as much as you can through your Fidelity internship
“Learn about all the opportunities at Fidelity, and take advantage of your 10 weeks here,” says Kent. Expand beyond the bubble of your assigned business unit or intern cohort.
The best way to learn more and hone your skills is by asking for guidance. “Get feedback on your work. Fidelity’s way of managing is about helping people,” says Kent. Feedback is a combination of appreciation, coaching, and evaluation. You need all three to stay motivated, learn how you can improve, and know where you stand.
